Fans of Camila Cabello were wondering whether she'll be venturing soon on a solo career as she collaborated with Shawn Mendes for an "I Know What You Did Last Summer" duet.
In an interview with MTV, the Fifth Harmony member admitted that she found the project with the "Stitches" singer quite exciting.
"I love storytelling in songwriting, and Shawn and I have awesome creative chemistry, so this project was so exciting," the Fifth Harmony singer explained.
"Working with Camila was amazing," the "Stitches" singer admitted. "We wrote this song backstage so spontaneously and we can't wait for everyone to hear it."
Teen Vogue even expounded on their report that the backstage moment that Shawn Mendes was talking about when he wrote "I Know What You Did Last Summer" with Camila Cabello was during one of Taylor Swift's "1989" concert.
In a behind-the-scenes look on the making of "I Know What You Did Last Summer," Cabello even admitted that the song was an emotional one.
"It's basically a conversation between two people in a relationship where it's dying but nobody wants to admit that it's dying," she explained about the story of the song.
Amid Camila Cabello's new song with Shawn Mendes, fans have expressed their concern on social media as some wondered if the Fifth Harmony singer was going solo soon. Cabello herself has recently sounded off about a band breakup.
"Honestly, I think we all do," she reportedly answered to Latina in September when asked if she thought her girl band will eventually break up in the future.
Billboard said in a report though that Cabello's statement was apparently "taken out of context" during the said interview.
"The cool part is that we allow one another to do our own thing within this thing," Cabello added in her Latina interview about her group. "I think it's healthy because if not, personally, I would go insane."
