"Fast and Furious 8" shouldn't be the only fans should watch out for.
Ever since the director for the upcoming "Fast and Furious 8" film was confirmed, fans were already anticipating the last trilogy into the "Furious" franchise. However, Vin Diesel revealed that there may be more than a the final film installments to look forward to.
On Variety, the actor revealed that the creative team behind the action films have been cooking up a plan similar to the expanded universe model that "Avengers" and "Star Wars" have. This mean that side stories and spin-offs would be created in order to support the core films in the last trilogy.
“We’ve written out story lines for various characters,” said Diesel in an exclusive interview on Variety. “We’ve been playing with it for a long time. It’s a very rich property and we’re committed to treating it with a lot of class.”
Even Donna Langley confirmed the "Furious" spin-offs, she commented "We're certainly in conversations about how we can expand the franchise now. It's an ensemble cast and there's room to bring characters in and out."
The franchise has just earned more than $1.5 billion on "Furious 7" and reportedly stands as the fifth biggest film ever made. This means that further expanding the "universe" of the characters by giving them spin-offs seems fitting as not a lot is known about Dominic Toreto's crew apart from their races and escapades around the world.
There may possibly be additional characters added into the franchise's existing roster of adrenalin hungry personalities.
The "Fast and Furious 8" film is set for a 2017 release date with F. Gary Gray as its director. There is no details yet on the cast and the story of the film, as reported by Gamespot.
