'Assassination Classroom' Season 2 Release Date And Trailer Revealed [VIDEO]

There's been plenty of school action this anime season with "Owarimonogatari," "The Testament of Sister New Devil," and more using the classroom as a frequent location for action.

No classroom this season however has a deadly teacher who plans on destroying the earth by the end of the semester.

But Korosensei is definitely coming back.

Today, Avex Pictures began streaming an official "Assassination Classroom" season two trailer. The trailer, available to view below, confirms the January 2016 release date for the new season.

So far, fans in an ANN forum are responding to the new trailer for "Assassination Classroom" season two with excitement.

"I'm excited to see this. I hope it will be a 2-cour just like last year," said Stark700.

Anime News Network reports that the main staff from the first season of "Assassination Classroom" will return for the new season. Seiji Kishi will return as the director with screenplays by Makoto Uezu. Kazuaki Morita will return as the character designer and Naoki Sato will still handle music. Studio Lerch will continue to handle the animation production.

For those not familiar with "Assassination Classroom" anime series, it is based on Yusei Matsui's original manga series. Funimation, who will stream the series as it airs in Japan, describes the story as follows:

"Forget about homework and pop quizzes. The students of Class 3E have a far more important assignment: kill their teacher before the end of the year! A tentacle-d sensei that moves at Mach 20 is out to conquer the classroom after destroying seventy percent of the moon."

It goes on:

"In addition to reading, writing, and arithmetic, the murderous monster behind the lectern will teach his students everything he knows about the assassination game. Should some eager beaver prove to be a quick study in killing, he or she will save Earth from extinction - and collect a hefty reward."
