'Pacific Rim 2' Release Date Inching Closer To Being Announced? Guillermo Del Toro Hard At Work To Make Film Happen!

The "Pacific Rim 2: Maelstrom" release date is still tentative but the film hitting movie theaters is still a huge possibility.

Director Guillermo Del Toro is not giving up until his visions become reality and it looks like it will pay off soon.

According to a report by Cinema Blend, the film is inching closer to being finalized as Guillermo Del Toro is working hand in hand with Zak Penn in finishing the sequel.

"Guillermo Del Toro updated us on the progress of Pacific Rim 2, saying that he is hard at work on a 'secret' screenplay draft with Zak Penn. So it sounds like Pacific Rim 2 is happening! Celebrations for all!" As stated in the website.

Moreover, Hollywood Reporter stated that Legendary Studios is ready to give the film a go-signal despite having some risks.

"Sources say Legendary liked that the original performed exceptionally well in China, where the company is heavily invested, but for now the project - which had been ramping up to make a release date in August 2017 - has been halted indefinitely and will be pushed back (if it gets made at all)," as stated in the article.

Meanwhile, the direction of the film seems like it will focus more on Mako and Raleigh's growing relationship according to writer Travis Beacham.

"So we get to follow this love story of two pilots who are now deeply in love and how their love is the thing that either saves or dooms them in the process of fighting this gigantic monster. And like I said, what I'm proudest of really is that it's very much a story about the people inside the Jaeger while still having literally eleven pages of monster fighting", Beacham said via MTV.
