Online game "League of Legends" continue to be popular even after so many years in the gaming industry and the number of other games that have entered the circuit. Despite this, its developers have not remained complacent of the game and remain committed to make the sport as exciting as the first time it was released in the news.
As reported by Downtown Express, the Tribeca Enterprises that is behind the famous Tribeca Film Festival launched a project that aimed at digging deeper into the artistry of video games. For their first panel, they featured "Tribeca Games Presents The Craft and Creative of League of Legend."
In the said event as told by Tech Times, the minds behind the multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) game - Riot Games - spilled on some exciting news about a possible update on the "League of Legends" plot.
"I was on a panel earlier, and we talked about a character, Gangaplank," Riot Games Lead Designer Mark Yetter told the source above. "He's an old character. So, we said, 'can we update this character but also move his story forward? (Let's) let things happen in this universe. He's got rivals. He's the king. Maybe his rivals have finally defeated him and he lost everything and so now, his character has evolved.'"
It seemed it's not only the character's personal story that developers focus on for LoL. The team behind the MOBA game also revealed that they continue to redesign their characters to make sure they're up-to-date for the taste of gamers and to the growth of the game.
"We like to play a little bit with our characters," Riot Games Principal Artist Moby Francke admitted. "Sometimes, they're a little bit ugly, but they're also beautiful at the same time. So, we're dealing with ratio systems when we're designing characters, because at the end of the day, that's how you're actually going to make a character that truly stands out from the rest, and I think that's what League players have an affinity for. It's that, 'Oh, I've never seen that before. Love it!'"
According to the latest news about the game from their official website, the reach of "League of Legends" has reached "7 million playing every month, 27 million playing every day, and over 7.5 million playing at the same time during each day's peak play time."
The game has also been considered a sport in the US since 2013 as told by Euro Gamer then.
