'Star Wars' George Lucas Will Never Film Another Movie, Why He Stepped Back From 'Star Wars'

"Star Wars" George Lucas made a decision not many understood.

The "Star Wars" franchise is, undoubtedly, one of the most successful film franchises of the century. Since it's inception it has become an iconic piece of film and pop culture history, and still expands even up to the present day.

It all began when George Lucas wanted to create an epic space opera that was set "a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away."

"You go to make a movie and all you do is get criticized. People try to make decisions about what you're going to do before you do it - you know, it's not much fun," said Lucas in a video on Vanity Fair.

Unfortunately, due to the success of "Star Wars," the films were expected to be done a certain way, thus creating limitations Luxas wasn't comfortable with.

Even at a distance he still cares for the franchise he created and hopes "The Force doesn't get muddled inot a bunch of gobbledygook" as Disney has plans on expanding the "Star Wars" universe, as reported by IGN.

While he may be giving up the director's chair to new directiors, "Star Wars" George Lucas gave some advice to those williing to direct the movies. "There's more to it than just space ships," he said.
