The "Fifty Shades Darker" production will finally start early 2016 back to back with "Fifty Shades Freed."
Both sequels, which are set to be released by Feb. 10, 2017 and Feb. 9, 2018, respectively, will be directed by James Foley and will be produced by Michael De Luca, Dana Brunetti and E. L. James, according to The Wrap.
The movies, which are based from the books of E. L. James, will be released by the Universal Studios and will be adapted on screen by Niall Leonard, "the author and screenwriter who's intimately familiar with the characters, given that he's married to James."
As the "Fifty Shades Darker" and "Fifty Shades Freed" begin their production, it was confirmed that Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan will be back as sweethearts Anastasia Steele and Christian Grey.
The first installment of the trilogy, "Fifty Shades of Grey" released in February, made a phenomenal record as it generated a gross of more than $60 million worldwide.
On the other hand, Cross Map reported that three new characters will be introduced in the upcoming sequel "Fifty Shades Darker."
However, there have been no names mentioned yet to play such new cast additions.
The new characters, who will be part of the "Fifty Shades Darker" production, will also be pivotal in developing the story, based on the site's report.
These new faces are Elena Lincoln, Jack Hyde and Leila Williams.
The Cross Map revealed that Elena Lincoln "was Christian Grey's former dominant who introduced him to the BDSM lifestyle, and is still currently Christian Grey's business partner," while Jack Hyde "is Ana Steele's boss at Seattle Independent Publishing who Christian immediately suspects and is jealous of."
In the meantime, Leila Williams "is Christian Grey's former submissive who became obsessed with Ana after losing her own lover in a car crash."
