'Doctor Who' Season 9 Finale Set Photos Ignite Clara Oswald Rumors: Does Her Death Mean She's Dead?

Fans finally bid farewell to Clara Oswald in a heartbreaking death scene during "Doctor Who" Season 9 episode 10. But set photos from the finale have some Whovians wondering if she's really dead.

In August, the Twitter account Doctor Who Filming released set photos featuring actress Jenna Coleman in a waitress uniform. What makes the set photos even more interesting is that she appears to be working at Eddie's Diner, and it is a location we've seen before on "Doctor Who."

Back during "Doctor Who" Season 6, Eddie's Diner was a featured location during the premiere episode titled "The Impossible Astronaut." Fans may recall it featuring familiar faces like River Song (Alex Kingston), Amy Pond (Karen Gillan), Rory Williams (Arthur Darvill) and of course Matt Smith's Doctor.

Does this mean the "Doctor Who" Season 9 finale will revisit this timeline? After all, Clara is the "Impossible Girl."

Whether Clara will return in some form during the "Doctor Who" Season 9 finale is uncertain. However, executive producer Steven Moffat believes there is still room for Jenna Coleman to return to the series as a special guest star in the future.

"You can never say that someone can never come back," said Moffat according to Doctor Who TV. "They always can, because it's a show about time travel. So it's entirely possible."

As far as who the next companion may be, Moffat believes a fresh face would help jumpstart the series for a new audience.

"I think to throw away the chance to say 'You can start here' is foolish," said Moffat. "If you say, 'You could start here, but [the companion is] somebody you have to know all about' then you've lost that. I think every time we get a new companion - even more so than a new Doctor - you are sort of saying, 'This is the beginning. This is where it starts. You can join in here,'"
