NBA Rookie Of The Year 2T016 Race: Will It Be Karl-Anthony Towns Or Kristaps Porzingis?

This year's batch of rookies has been nothing short of spectacular. Headlined by names like Karl-Anthony Towns, Kristaps Porzingis, Jahlil Okafor and Emmanuel Mudiay, the teams they play for has become really fun to watch.

The only thing holding back Okafor will be the standing of his team, the Philadelphia 76ers, who is still winless to start the season. Meanwhile, Porzingis and Towns are just better statistically than Mudiay.

Zooming in to both big men, who is the worthy candidate to become the Rookie Of The Year?

Porzingis is averaging 13.2 ppg, 8.8 rpg while shooting 42 percent from mid-range and 30 percent from beyond the arc. Aside from that, most of those numbers are clean-up points and was not demanded, which makes it more impressive. But most important than that, he is helping the Knicks to win and stay in contention in the playoffs.

"The first day I got drafted, I felt the fans were really passionate about basketball and there was going to be a lot of pressure. I knew that, but I wanted to be in New York because I love pressure," Porzingis told Yahoo Sports. "I knew we could do big things here in the future. If you can succeed in New York, you can succeed anywhere."

Towns, meanwhile, is averaging 16 ppg, 10.4 rpg and 2.4 bpg. He's been perfect in complementing Andrew Wiggins and he's shown a wide range of arsenal in scoring.

With that said, Greg Anthony of Bleacher Report said that Towns averaging a double-double puts him at an elite list of names that only Tim Duncan and Blake Griffin have done as a rookie, averaging 15 ppg and 10 rpg.

The season is still young and plenty of things are still bound to happen.
