New Wireless Technology Li-Fi To Replace Wi-Fi?, Speed Is 100 Times faster

New wireless technology Li-Fi may take over the age of Wi-Fi technology.

When Wi-Fi technology was first introduced, it was a little difficult for people to grasp as internet connection as usually done by connecting a table to one's computer. However, as the pace of technological advancements improved, the likelihood of new technology taking over is very high.

One man decided to make a difference and invented new wireles technology Li-fi that is reportedly 100 times faster than Wi-Fi technology.According to IBTimes, an Estonian startup company called Velmenni created tech that used a Li-Fi enabled lightbulb to transmit data at a speed of 1 gigabite per second.

"Currently we have designed a smart lighting solution for an industrial environment where the data communication is done through light. We are also doing a pilot project with a private client where we are setting up a Li-Fi network to access the Internet in their office space," said Velmenni.

To further emphasize the speed of the new wireless technology Li-Fi, a high-definition full-feature film could be downloaded in just seconds as compared to a download that takes hours on Wi-Fi technology.

Harald Haas from the University of Edinburgh invented the new wireless technology Li-Fi back in 2011, as reported by Science Alert.

He demonstrated that a simple flickering of light from a single LED bulb could transmit much more data than a cellular tower. It definitely holds true to the basic knowledge that light travels much faster than the speed of sound, in this case it travels much faster than our current Wi-Fi connection speed.

Li-Fi technology is a bi- directional, high speed and fully networked wireless communication technology similar to Wi-Fi. It is wireless and uses visible light communication or infra-red and near ultra violet spectrum.
