‘Captain Marvel’ Casting News: Jennifer Lawrence Inching Closer To Playing Carol Danvers?

The long list of actresses who wants to be a part of the MCU just keeps on expanding. To be specific, many are aspiring to be a part of the "Captain Marvel" cast but there will only be one to take home the role of Carol Danvers.

So who are the favorite candidates to take on the role? Starting with Jennifer Lawrence, who is no stranger to the superhero film genre, is interested to make the jump from Mystique of X-Men to Carol Danvers.

In an interview with Comic Book Resources, she was asked if she would like to join Chris Pratt and Bradley Cooper in the same realm of "Guardians of the Galaxy," where Captain Marvel is also a part of.

Well, yes! I would love to play in a sandbox with those two!" Lawrence said.

However, if she indeed desires the role, she would have to get past other favorites such as Olivia Wilde

She spoke with Cinema Blend and she said that she is a fan of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and another thing she likes most is how they choose unexpected actors to play the role.

"Marvel has been so smart about casting unexpected people for these roles. Look at what Robert Downey brought to Iron Man. A real, dry sense of humor and a complexity to his hero balance," Wilde said.

Should she be named to the "Captain Marvel" cast, Wilde have some ideas on how to portray the character.

"The thing with female superheroes is that, in order to be powerful, they are flawless. The idea of kick-ass power lacks a certain nuance, at times. There is something to be said for a female director working to create a female superhero that perhaps [has] a little more complexity," she added.
