‘Star Wars Battlefront’ Review: Game Cited As Boring, Lacks Depth; Game Modes Hit

As everyone probably got excited about the release of "Star Wars Battlefront" last week, several reviews pointed out some lapses in the game.

BIT-TECH.net noted that while it can be observed that everything in this EA game, which was developed by DICE, "functions as it should," some limitations are noticeable as well.

"What's inexcusable is 'Battlefront's' is that it's shallow, and this lack of depth permeates the entire game, making any long term play feel boring," John Tucker stated in his assessment of the game. "You can't even kill the Ewoks."

He also added in his review that despite developing "Star Wars Battlefront" to be a movie-like experience among gamers, "Crucially, it doesn't feel like the movie."

The report pointed out as well that although it can be acceptable for "the game to be a shallow experience, but to also force a hefty progression system on you to make sure you don't get to play with any of the fun parts of the game unless you put in far more time than the game deserves."

Tucker's claim in his "Star Wars Battlefront" review was supported by one reader under the name Loftie by saying that "the review also sounds about right - shallow game, not much to do."

On the other hand, Tech Radar commented about its games modes.

Accordingly, only two of its nine game modes "that you'll bother going back to."

It was likewise revealed that "Battlefront's air combat works well as a part of battle, but not as a standalone game."

Tech Radar's Hugh Langley stated that apart from this particular limitation of the game, any gamer can immediately notice its lack of content the moment he or she reaches its main menu.

"'Battlefront' is one of the greatest 'Star Wars' games ever made," he said in his review. "It's also one of the most frustrating."
