Hi-C Ecto Cooler Heading Back To Shelves Soon? , Coca Cola Files Trademark For "Ghostbuster-themed" Juice

Hi-C Ecto Cooler may be coming back soon.

Being able to feel like you're a part of you're favorite television series of film is something a lot of fans look for. This is why merchandise, costumes and the like are created in order to cater to the avid fanbase of certain franchises. The "Ghostbuster" franchise isn't excluded in this practice as it has become one of the many iconic franchises of their generation.

Like many franchises, merchandise and themed food were all a part of the hype. During the peak of the "Ghostbuster" franchise, the HI-C Ecto Cooler was probably one of the coolest drinks around in the late 80s to the early 90s. Slimer, the drink's mascot and the slimy ghost on the show, is an image that "Ghostbuster" fans are very familiar with.

According to Slashfilm, the Hi-C Ecto Cooler name was discontinued until 2001 and was renamed Shoutin' Orange Tangergreen and became Crazy Citrus Coller in 2006 before completely disappearing. With the favorite tangy drink gone, people have been coming up with their own concoctions to make up of the empty space the drink left behind.

However, CNBC reported that Coca Cola filed a trademark patent for the drink and it was approved in Novemeber. With the new "Ghostbusters" movie getting released several months from now, there is a very high chance that Coca Cola will be bringing back the well-loved drink.

There is no news as to when the Hi-C Ecto Cooler drink will be heading to the shelves, but it may reportedly start being distributed in 2016.

"Ghostbusters" is a 1984 American supernatural comedy film that starred Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis. The trio played three eccentric parapsychologists in New York City who earned money by catching ghosts and turning it into an extermination business. While catching ghosts is part of their daily routine, one particular ancient spirit cooks up trouble and threatens to wreck havoc on the world.
