'Cute High Earth Defense Club Love' Anime Gets Stage Play Adaptation

Magical girl anime series are plentiful, so when another one comes along, it makes sense not to give it too much thought unless it is truly remarkable.

Magical boys who are lazy however, is too special to ever ignore.

Perhaps as a result of its successful TV broadcast, the original "Cute High Earth Defense Club Love" anime series is being adapted into a live stage production. Sponsored by Marvelous, Pony Canyon, and Segan Live creation, the "Cute High Earth Defense Club Love" stage play will run in Japan from March 10 to March 13, 2016.

As with most anime/manga stage adaptations, the production is limited to Japan. As such, response to the information has been limited to lamenting the inability to check it out.

"Gah, if only this was playing two weeks later when I'll be visiting Japan. It's not like I'd understand the language at all, but I'm sure it'd be a good time," said WashuTakahashi in an ANN forum.

For fans outside of Japan, there is still the "Cute High Earth Defense Club Love" anime Blu-ray/DVD from Pony Canyon. Additionally, "Cute High Earth Defense Club Love" season two was also confirmed to be in the works. No release date has been officially scheduled, but the previous spring release suggests a spring 2016 premiere.

For those not familiar with the series, Funimation describes the story of the "Cute High Earth Defense Club Love" anime as follows:

"Teenage boys are notoriously lazy, and the members of Binan High School's Earth Defense Club are no exception. Their definition of "earth defense" is bumming around all day at the local bathhouse."

It goes on:

"But when a pink wombat appears out of thin air and begs the boys to help him save the planet, even the idlest high schoolers jump to action. Watch the magical boys transform and save the earth with the power of LOVE!"
