If you've ever wanted to kill your teacher in middle school or high school, you're in luck.
There's an anime series that follows a bunch of students who have to kill their teacher before the year is up.
This weekend, the official Avex Pictures YouTube channel began streaming a new "Assassination Classroom" season two trailer. The trailer, available to view below, previews Class 3E's second semester attempt at destroying Korosensei. The official "Assassination Classroom" season two release date is set for Jan. 7.
Fans on Twitter have been expressing excitement for "Assassination Classroom" season two since as early as June of this year.
"I miss 'Assassination Classroom.' I don't want to wait until next year for season two," said James Marshall.
The licensing of "Assassination Classroom" season two definitely makes sense when considering the overwhelming popularity of the original manga series by Yusei Matsui. According to Anime News Network, the manga has over 1 million copies in print since 2013, and was the number on recommended manga from Japanese bookstores that same year.
Apart from the popularity, the "Assassination Classroom" manga series has also receieved several critical awards, including being nominated for the 2015 "Tenzuka Osamu Cultural Prize."
For those not familiar with the "Assassination Classroom" anime and manga series, Funimation, the company that will continue to stream the anime outside of Japan, describes the story as follows:
"Forget about homework and pop quizzes. The students of Class 3E have a far more important assignment: kill their teacher before the end of the year! A tentacle-d sensei that moves at Mach 20 is out to conquer the classroom after destroying seventy percent of the moon."
It goes on:
"In addition to reading, writing, and arithmetic, the murderous monster behind the lectern will teach his students everything he knows about the assassination game. Should some eager beaver prove to be a quick study in killing, he or she will save Earth from extinction - and collect a hefty reward."
