Nokia Ozo VR Camera Specs, Release Date And Price: Is The $60,000 Worth The Hype?

Nokia Ozo VR camera is available for purchase.

Technology has upgraded and progressed a lot within the past couple of decades. After shifting to bulky telephones and computers to sleek laptops and smartphones, the world is entering a new age where technology becomes a basic necessity.

The newest technology available is VR-Tech or virtual reality technology. This is targeted to gamers where they are able to view their game in a whole new and immersive evironment by wearing virtual reality glasses. However, the Nokia Ozo VR camera does the same thing but is responsible for recording footage rather than showing it.

Mashable reported that the ball-shaped Nokia Ozo VR camera is aimed at professionals and retails for $60,000. While it may be much pricier than similar products in the market, like the 360fly, Nokia stressed that this is the "world's first professional virtual reality camera."

The camera records 360 x180-degree spherical video using 8 2K X 2K image sensors at 30 frames per second. It also has 360 x 260 surround sound and works via wireless connection. The device records both video and audio into a single file that can be stored on a 500GB SSD (Solid State Drive).

The wireless design is made for when the Ozo is mounted on a flying drone, however Nokia's official Ozo homepage noted that the drone will have to be purchased separately.

Those who are interested in purchasing the Nokia Ozo VR camera can pre-order on the website, but a $5000 deposit is required.

The device is expected to be officially launched in the first quarter of 2016.
