Gennady Golovkin Next Fight Still Up In The Air; Is There A Possibility For A Carl Froch Match?

The camp of Kazakh boxer, Gennady Golovkin is having a hard time on finding an opponent for their prized fighter which puts his next fight still up in the air.

Recently, the newest name to surface that might face the undefeated boxer is now retired boxer, Carl Froch. However, the British boxer said that the gap in size is simply too huge which makes it hard for them to do a catch-weight match.

"I spoke to Tom Loeffler and we were just chatting about fighting at a catch weight but he didn't want him [Golovkin] to come near me," Froch told Sky Sports.

"He didn't say anything, he didn't want to agree to anything - it didn't even sound like he wanted him to even come up to 168lbs. As soon as that was mentioned he was straight on to talking about fighting Canelo [Alvarez]."

On top of that, Froch said he is happily retired and is no longer looking forward to stepping in the boxing ring again.

"But not only am I enjoying retirement, even though I am still fit, I am not going to get down to 168 at this stage of my life. It wouldn't be good for my health," he said. "Unfortunately for the fans I am retired, I am happily retired and I am staying retired."

Now that Golovkin vs. Froch is not happening, it all goes back to a Golovkin vs. Canelo match-up. As of the moment, the Mexican boxer's camp said that their fighter will only fight at 155 lbs. Golovkin, meanwhile, has no interest on going down to 155 which makes them fighting one another unlikely, for now.

Who will be the opponent for Gennady Golovkin next fight? Stay tuned.
