Gravity Falls' Finale 'Weirdmageddon 3' won't air until next year and fans can't believe that the end is near. "Gravity Falls" creator Alex Hirsch recently revealed that the surprises in the finale will make up for it.
In Hirsch's blog The Mystery Shack, Alex Hirsch wrote, "Goodbye Gravity Falls," where he confirmed will be ending after "Weirdmageddon II: Escape from Reality" and "Weirdmageddon III."
"The first thing to know is that the show isn't being cancelled-it's being finished. This is 100% my choice, and it's something I decided on a very long time ago."
The series creator revealed that there will be a major surprise in the Gravity Falls series finale "Weirdmageddon III."
"Of course there's no way to satisfy every single fan's personal theories," Hirsch explained. "But our show reflects a genuine sincere effort by some really talented folks to make the coolest thing we can (with the time and budget available.) Will every single conceivable question ever thought of about Gravity Falls be answered in the end? Of course not. That just leaves some material for any potential Gravity Falls projects in the future..."
Fans of the series were shocked when the creator announced a month ago that Disney XD's "Gravity Falls" will end. But the one-hour-long series finale, "Weirdmaggedon III," will have a lot to offer.
Movie Pilot reported on a press release from Disney XD, the "Gravity Falls" Season 2 Finale or "Weirdmageddon 3" would air "sometime in early 2016" and the episode may air any time from January to March 2016.
"Gravity Falls" creator Alex Hirsch told TV Insider that a popular antagonist will be returning in the "Weirdmageddon 3" episode.
"Time Baby is a character who, in the universe of 'Gravity Falls,' has a level of power similar to Bill," Hirsch told TV Insider.
"The difference being that Bill has always been trapped in a formless space where he can't affect our reality and Time Baby can affect the reality of Time. I will say this, although we've seen Time Baby blasted to little time pieces, he might not be quite as destroyed as you might believe."
Time Baby's return might stage a showdown between Bill Cipher and Time Baby, two of "Gravity Falls" greatest antagonists.
Alex Hirsch also revealed that Dipper will have to learn to rely on himself.
"[Dipper] came into this summer as a kind of naïve, self-serious, sort of socially awkward kid who knew little of the world beyond his interactions with his sister and his home life. And over the course of these two seasons, he has been tested again and again, learned many lessons and those experiences now have to be the journal he has inside of him," Hirsch told TV Insider.
"He needs to rely on himself, and only himself, in 'Weirdmageddon' for the first time and in a way there's a lesson for Dipper to learn there, that he can be his own leader. That he can be the author of his own story."
Hirsch recently spilled on why the aliens came to earth. We learned im the "Dipper & Mabel vs The Future" episode that Gravity Falls' floating cliffs actually caused by an alien spacecraft crashing into Earth.
"The idea of Gravity Falls being a prehistoric UFO crash site seemed like a perfect explanation for the town's geography, as well as an interesting way to suggest the origins of certain aspects of the town's strangeness," Hirsch said.
"We had this concept from the very beginning of the series, and it's very cool to finally get a chance to reveal it in the show."
The finale of Disney XD's "Gravity Fall" is said to air anytime from January to March 2016.
