If you’re a recent fan of anime, you’ve likely gotten used to watching series with English subtitles. You’ve also likely gotten used to watching the English dub merely for comparison purposes.
But those old enough to remember will know that sometimes there’s really charm in English dubbing. Especially if you’re looking to relive your favorite childhood series exactly as you were first exposed to it.
The upcoming “Monthly Girls’ Nozaki-Kun” English dub produced by Sentai Filmworks was recently teased on their official Twitter account. Though they did not confirm the voice actress in question, they did tease that the parts for Chiyo were being recorded.
The “Monthly Girls’ Nozaki-Kun” English dub will be released alongside the Blu-ray/DVD box set on March 29, 2016.
For those who are not familiar with the series, "Monthly Girls' Nozaki-Kun" was originally a manga series by Izumi Tsubaki. Yen Press, who is releasing the manga series in North America, describes the story as follows:
“The boy of her dreams...is a girl's manga artist?! To the eyes of high school student Chiyo Sakura, classmate Umetarou Nozaki--brawny of build and brusque of tongue--is a dreamboat! When Chiyo finally works up the courage to tell Nozaki how she feels about him, she knows rejection is on the table...but getting recruited as a manga-ka's assistant?! Never in a million years!”
It goes on:
“But for someone who makes a living drawing sweet girly romances, Nozaki-kun is a little slow on the uptake when it comes to matters of the heart in reality. And so Chiyo's daily life of manga making and heartache begins!”
