If you've been watching sports anime series this fall and fear the dead of winter will keep you down, there appears to be hope in the form of a new video game adaptation.
This time, the sport is a "stride" about town.
Today, the official website for the upcoming "Prince of Stride Alternative" anime series began streaming a new trailer. The trailer, which features introductions from the main characters of the series, is available to view below. The "Prince of Stride Alternative" anime release date is currently set for Jan. 5.
Anime News Network provides the following translation of the character Nana Sakurai's (voiced by Kana Kanazawa) first words as the trailer opens.
"A sound reverberates from two palms. Without a doubt, it signals a perfect relay. Why can I believe in this meeting? The thoughts connect and become the wind. That is the Stride of Hōnan Academy that I admire."
The "Honan Academy" in question is the high school of the main characters that are introduced in the video. Anime News Network reports the following Japanese voice cast for those characters in order of appearance in the trailer:
Kana Hanazawa as Nana Sakurai
Ryohei Kimura as Riku Yagami
Nobuhiko Okamoto as Takeru Fujiwara
Kensho Ono as Hozumi Koshinata
Daisuke Ono as Heath Hasekura
Hiro Shimono as Ayumu Kadowaki
Junichi Suwabe as Kyosuke Kuga
Atsuko Ishizuka will direct the "Prince of Stride Alternative" anime with series composition by Taku Kishimoto. Kakunen Ou will adapted the original character designs by Kanako Nono. Madhouse will handle the animation production.
"Prince of Stride" was originally a PS Vita game released by Kadokawa.For those not familiar with the game, ANN provides following storyline for the "Prince of Stride Alternative" anime series:
"The anime series revolves around a closed-down 'Stride' club at Hōnan Academy. First-year high school students Takeru Fujiwara and Nana Sakurai attempt to restart the club, but they must recruit six members for the team."
It goes on:
"They ask Riku Yagami to join, but he turns them down by saying that Stride is the one thing he doesn't want to do. However, Takeru and Nana drag Riku into the clubroom to try to convince him."
