'Pacific Rim 2' Good To Go! Guillermo Del Toro Hard At Work To Expand Fictional World

After several talks, "Pacific Rim 2" is finally given a go signal and director Guillermo Del Toro is now hard at work to further improve the fictional world he created.

The first film was positively received by audience all around the world and a sequel seem very likely. But the film encountered challenges in the past that made the production companies hesitate a bit about a potential sequel.

A report from Hollywood Reporter confirmed that Legendary Studios is indeed aware of the risks. However, they still want the film to pursue as they believe in the director's vision as well as the potential of the film franchise.

"Sources say Legendary liked that the original performed exceptionally well in China, where the company is heavily invested, but for now the project - which had been ramping up to make a release date in August 2017 - has been halted indefinitely and will be pushed back (if it gets made at all)," as stated in the article.

Moreover, Cinema Blend, confirmed that Guillermo Del Toro and Zak Penn is almost done with the screenplay of the film.

"Guillermo Del Toro updated us on the progress of Pacific Rim 2, saying that he is hard at work on a 'secret' screenplay draft with Zak Penn. So it sounds like Pacific Rim 2 is happening! Celebrations for all!" As stated in the website.

Last October, Del Toro confirmed that the budget is now in their disposal and is just waiting for the final script. Fans can now ignore the studio giving them a the go signal as "Pacific Rim 2" was confirmed already.
