'Assassination Classroom' Wins 2015 Yahoo! 'Animation Award'

According to reports, the Yahoo! Search engine has held their second annual award ceremony that celebrates the most searched topics in Japan of the year. Winning the honor of the "Animation Award," it appears the most searched anime of 2015 was "Assassination Classroom." To celebrate the win, Koro-sensei showed up to the ceremony to accept the award in person.

Additional winners of note are voice actress Tomoko Kaneda, who won the "Voice Actor Award" for her roles in "Kaito Tenshi twin Angel: Kyun Kyun Tokimeki Paradise" OVA and "My Wife is the Student Council President" anime series.

For those not familiar with "Assassination Classroom" anime series, it is based on Yusei Matsui's original manga series. Funimation, who will stream the series as it airs in Japan, describes the story as follows:

"Forget about homework and pop quizzes. The students of Class 3E have a far more important assignment: kill their teacher before the end of the year! A tentacle-d sensei that moves at Mach 20 is out to conquer the classroom after destroying seventy percent of the moon."

It goes on:

"In addition to reading, writing, and arithmetic, the murderous monster behind the lectern will teach his students everything he knows about the assassination game. Should some eager beaver prove to be a quick study in killing, he or she will save Earth from extinction - and collect a hefty reward."

"Assassination Classroom" was adapted into an anime series, and the first season aired earlier this year. "Assassination Classroom" will return for the new season with the same staff from the first season. Seiji Kishi will return as the director with screenplays by Makoto Uezu. Kazuaki Morita will return as the character designer and Naoki Sato will still handle music. Studio Lerch will continue to handle the animation production.
