LeBron James’ Nike Contract Demands For A ‘Scandal-Free’ Career; Deal Worth More Than $500M?

After LeBron James' Nike contract got inked early this week, many could be wondering now about the demands that the deal entails.

According to Mail Online, the overwhelming contract comes with a major "assumption."

"Nike's eye-watering deal to James' is based on the assumption that he will stay scandal-free throughout the rest of his career, as well as have staying power in the many years of his life when he is no longer an active player," the report claimed.

It was also learned that LeBron James' Nike contract might just be based on the success of the company's partnership with Michael Jordan.

And as basketball becomes a global sport, it was anticipated that the brand will "expand internationally as well." Given this scenario, the 30-year-old NBA superstar "could transcend across both genders in this way" when talking about the projected sales of his own line.

Based on records, Nike has pegged its annual sales target for the Jordan variant at $4.5 billion in October, which accordingly is "double where it stands today."

On the other hand, USA Today revealed that the company's offer to the four-time MVP is actually beyond the previously reported figure.

"According to a person with knowledge of the situation, James' lifetime shoe deal that was revealed on Monday is worth significantly more than the $500 million that has been speculated in some media reports," the site stated about LeBron James' Nike contract.

It was further dished that with the present sales performance of the giant shoemaker, it is not impossible that the Cavalier's all-time topnotch scorer will enjoy an annual earnings of $30 million.

With his Nike contract, USA Today pointed out that LeBron James "became Nike's first lifetime client in the company's 44-year history - is the sneaker king of the NBA," although the unnamed insider never gave out exact figures.
