LA Lakers Star Kobe Bryant Gunning For Last All-Star Game And Olympic Run; Can He Make It?

LA Lakers superstar and future Hall-of-Famer Kobe Bryant wants to make the most out of his last season by joining the NBA All-Star Game next year in Toronto as well as representing the U.S.A. in next year's Olympics.

With regards to the All-Star game, NBA commissioner Adam Silver is hoping that the 38-year old guard will make it as this will make the game extra special. He told SiriusXM NBA Radio that this will be the perfect send-off to a future legend and fans will also be looking forward to seeing him play with the best one last time.

"I hope to see him there," Silver said, via Los Angeles Times' Eric Pincus. "I think he deserves to be there. He's going to retire as one of the NBA's greatest players."

"We'll see what the fans and the coaches decide, and then we'll go from there," Silver added.

Meanwhile, Bryant has been very vocal about his Olympic aspirations, however, he would need to work hard to get the slot according to USA Basketball managing director Jerry Colangelo.

"When I was approached originally about Kobe's interest in potentially playing in the Olympics - this goes back early last summer, I guess, or spring - and the concept being that it would be great to end a career, win a gold medal and ride off into the sunset. That was just thrown my way by his agent, Rob Pelinka," Colangelo told Sam Amick of USA Today.

"I just took it in and I said, 'Rob, I don't rule anyone out, but it has got to be based on performance because there's so many people who want (to be on the team) - everyone wants to be on the roster.'"
