Vampire Diaries' Season 7 Rumors And News Updates: Like a vampire who was staked but didn't have his head removed, rumors that Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev are reuniting on The Vampire Diaries season 7 will not die.
Nina Dobrev won't work with her ex-boyfriend Ian Somerhalder and she doesn't care if that gets "The Vampire Diaries" cancelled. Since Nina Dobrev left TVD, its ratings dropped so fast The CW moved the supernatural drama to a Friday night time slot, considered the True Death slot.
Ratings for "The Vampire Diaries" Season 7 dropped since Damon and Elena were separated by the long sleep. Fans have been waiting for Nina Dobrev to make a comeback.
The "The Vampire Diaries" Season 7 cast agreed with the fans.
"Elena's still a very big part of the story," Paul Wesley, who plays the character of Stefan, told TV Insider. "Her body's in danger in the first few episodes, and Damon is doing everything he can to make sure it stays safe if and when she wakes up."
"The Vampire Diaries" ratings dropped a 33% since Elena was sidelined. Episode 17, "Mommie Dearest," reportedly got the lowest ratings the series at 1.10 million.

Since moving on from "The Vampire Diaries," Dobrev has been choosing more challenging and darker roles.
Dobrev was a vampire on "The Vampire Diaries."
Dobrev recently gave an emotional speech about leaving The Vampire Diaries at the Teen Choice Awards.
"The last few months have been a big change for me," Dobrev.
"Change. It's a scary word, or I used to think that, because it meant new beginnings. New beginnings with a future that was unknown. But change is necessary. Necessary for you to grow up and learn and to better yourself, because everything in life comes to an end and as this chapter of my life comes to an end, I look back at it with a grateful heart and I smile."
Ian Somerhalder agrees with Dobrev about working together on "The Vampire Diaries," the show that brought them together. Somerhalder even reportedly threatened to quit TVD if Nina's character came back from the dead.
Nina Dobrev's surprising exit from The Vampire Diaries at the end of last season left the future of the series in a state of flux, according to Ian Somerhalder in an interview with Variety.
"I personally think everyone thought it was going to be a huge departure after Elena was gone," Somerhalder told Variety.
"And I was one of those people... I thought it was going to be a huge departure for the typical formula of the show ... What we've just started shooting is such a departure."
Fans are already hoping that Dobrev may make a return for a short appearance this season and reunite with her former on- and off-screen boyfriend, Ian Somerhalder.
"I'm definitely ready for there to be a shift in dynamic. I think it's cool that we're exploring a different theme this season," Somerhalder said.
"Elena's gone, so there's going to be a natural shift in the show. The original triangle of Damon, Stefan and Elena is what made the show a big hit and it brought the fans - but we don't want the fans to leave. The show needs a fresh spin, so it feels like a fortuitous opportunity to do something new."
Somerhalder joined many fans who were sad to see Dobrev go.
