'Five Nights At Freddy's' Novel To Get New Official Title

While the debate and voting on the "Five Nights at Freddy's" series lore continues, it appears that creator Scott Cawthon is looking to add even more elements for fans to unpack.

Unfortunately, that could mean every theory that comes out now may end up being refuted later.

Last week, "Five Nights at Freddy's" creator Scott Cawthon announced on his official website and Steam that he is planning to release a new "Five Nights at Freddy's" novel. Today, he updated his explanation post and stated that a new official title for the novel will be revealed on Dec. 15.

"The official title of the book will be revealed on the 15th. 'The Untold Story' is just a placeholder and will not appear on the novel," said Cawthon.

The "Five Nights at Freddy's" novel marks the latest adaptation of the original video game franchise that began making waves in 2014. The original point-and-click horror PC game has since yielded four installments, an RPG version entitled "FNAF World" and a planned movie adaptation.

Though the movie and the games are new, Cawthon mentioned that he had been working on the "Five Nights at Freddy's" novel since earlier this year.

"This is not something recent; I've been working alongside a professional writer for the last ten months crafting this story, and I'm very excited about the finished product," explained Cawthon.

A new "Five Nights at Freddy's" story might sound like a good thing at the outset, but some fans may definitely be frustrated given that this may change their current set of theories about the meaning behind the games.

As recent as yesterday, unofficial but wildly popular FNAF expert Matthew Patrick released a theory video that is against the voted decision from the "Five Nights at Freddy's" Reddit community, showing just how difficult it has been to decide on the meaning behind the "Five Nights at Freddy's" franchise.

Here's hoping for a clearer picture of the series lore with the new novel.

The "Five Nights at Freddy's" novel will first be released on Dec. 22 for the Amazon Kindle platform. A hardcover edition is planned for some time in 2016.
