Newly crowned UFC Featherweight champ Conor McGregor is having the time of his life right now as he defeats one of his bitter rivals and undoubtedly one of the greatest fighters in the world, Jose Aldo.
Not only was he able to back-up his talk, he also cemented himself as one of the most devastating fighters in the roster right now.
With his accolades piling up, he believes he will continue to rise and make a lot of money for the UFC.
"At 27 years of age I stand here as the unified [UFC] champion," McGregor told The Guardian after knocking out Jose Aldo in UFC 194. "Back-to-back gate records in the MGM. This is trending as the highest pay-per-view of all time for the UFC ... I'm going straight up. I'm bringing these big numbers and the sky is the limit."
Asked what is next for him, McGregor said that he will enjoy his time back home at Dublin and he will have something big to announce when New Year arrives.
"I'll sit back in the shadows for Christmas and plot, and then come back in the New Year with something for you all," McGregor said. "It will form before me. I will keep my ear to the ground and see what people are interested in most."
He also unveiled his plan in the upcoming years and that is to beat every contender between the featherweight and the lightweight divisions.
"So maybe I feel there's a couple of contenders in the mix. Let them go up and compete against each other while I go up and take the lightweight belt," he said. "Allow a contender to emerge. Go down and take out that contender. And go back up when a lightweight contender emerged and takeout that contender."
Meanwhile, Frankie Edgar wants McGregor to stay at the Featherweight division and fight him before moving up.
"Stick around, man," Edgar told MMAjunkie. "One more go at it. I know people on Twitter are saying I could beat him. Let him prove them wrong."
