Sacramento Kings point guard Rajon Rondo is now back on the hot seat after dishing out a homophobic slur against seasoned NBA ref, Bill Kennedy.
This happened during their match against the Houston Rockets last Sunday, where he was thrown-out after calling Kennedy a "Motherf----- F----"
After the incident, Rondo was quick to apologize to the referee as well as the LGBT community. He said that his actions were completely unintentional and it was out of frustration.
This will be the third time Rondo had an altercation with an official. The first incident was when he threw a basketball to an official during his days as a Celtic. The second incident was when he shoved a referee during a playoff match way back in 2012. Should the NBA sanction him with a grave punishment to learn his lesson?
Sacramento Kings owner Vivek Ranadive also said in a statement that Rondo's action does not reflect the views of the franchise and apologizes to the official for the ruckus.
"Rajon's comment is not reflective of the culture of the Sacramento Kings organization or the world we want to live in," Ranadive said via Yahoo Sports. "He's apologized, and has been suspended by the NBA. On behalf of the team, I apologize to Bill Kennedy for any harm this may have caused."
Even VP Vlade Divac was upset with Rondo's actions and said it was inexcusable.
"It went too far," Divac said. "What he said, he doesn't mean that. We don't support it as an organization. When I saw him today, he apologized. He felt it was a bad call [by Kennedy], but definitely it was wrong. The sanctions on [Rondo] will be supported."
"He felt bad and he didn't mean to offend anybody. He said something that is unacceptable."
