After throwing barbs at each other for the past few years, Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather's camp are giving compliments one after another to each side.
The bitter rivals are now enjoying their reputations as greatest boxers of all-time. Mayweather is now retired and is enjoying the sport from the sidelines while Manny Pacquiao will be hanging up the gloves next year, April 9.
Perhaps one of the greatest detractor of Mayweather, Freddie Roach now admits that Mayweather is indeed the king of this era after finishing with a 49-0 clean slate.
"Manny [Pacquiao] had eight world titles and a lot of great opponents and so forth. Mayweather had the same, had a great career and undefeated, so I guess we're going to have to give it to Mayweather," Roach told Boxing Scene.
"Mayweather had no losses and so forth, so he's probably the king of this era."
However, he still got his fighter's back as he gives Pacquiao credit for being the more exciting boxer between the two.
"Manny was a lot more exciting for the fans," he said.
Meanwhile, Mayweather also credited the Filipino boxer by saying that their match last May 2 was the most important in his career. He was once seen wearing a shirt that honors his 48th match and when asked what's the reason behind the shirt, he said:
"This [t-shirt] is in honor of my 48th victory, which is the most important of my career," Mayweather said via Opening Round.
"A lot of people said that I avoided this fight. A lot of people said that I couldn't win the fight. But I proved all of that was wrong, and therefore the fight against Manny Pacquiao is the most important for me."
