With Matt Skiba taking charge as singer of Blink 182 in replacement of Tom DeLonge, the rest of the band revealed the progress of the new album, wherein they reportedly have at least six songs lined up for the record.
According to a recent report by NME, drummer Travis Barker revealed in an interview how thrilled he and Mark Hoppus is to have Skiba run the show for them.
He also revealed how the Alkaline Trio singer managed to give the new songs of Blink 182 a twist and that they are enjoying each other's company.
"Matt's killing it," Barker said about how the three of them worked as a team, which will most likely reflect on the sound of the new Blink 182 album. "He's fun to play with and write with. We're just getting started but I think we've got like four or five songs right now that I'm really, really happy with."
As to how the exact sound of the band has been like, Barker revealed in an interview, which was reported by Loud Wire, how great the voicing of Mark and Matt blended on record and while performing live.
"They sound different but still the same," he said. "Obviously, it's Matt Skiba singing so there's hints of Alkaline Trio, or at least Matt's contributions to Alkaline Trio, mixed with my drumming and Mark's voice and stuff. It's really cool and I really love what we've done so far."
As for the new Blink 182 album, he also revealed that they have a few songs lined up and revealed how they are just going with the flow and would not stop writing new songs for their fans.
"The goal here is to come up with an album and just write," he added. "We don't put a limit on how many songs we're gonna write. [We just] write a bunch of songs and when we feel like there's an album ready, there's an album ready. You know, no pressure, no deadlines."
