Dream Theater is about to release a new album early next year and in line with that, the band is also expected to hit the road with a full-blown 2016 tour, which is expected to hit most of North America.
Singer James LaBrie even noted on a Loud Wire report how the group was thrilled to have seen the support of their fans still solid as before, as the band is scheduled to come up with a new album.
"It's pretty amazing to be in the kind of industry that we are and to say that we've been around for thirty years and we're still relevant today," the Dream Theater singer said. "You know, the fact is that we still feel that we're evolving as a band. We're continuing to grow musically, and we see that our audience and our fan base is continually being cultivated. So, just to be in a situation as that says so much. It's so much to be grateful for."
Talking about the new album from Dream Theater, guitarist John Petrucci revealed in an interview with Revolver Magazine how the band prepared for the record.
He also claimed how they have been working on familiar territories, as they are recording and writing their new materials at Cove City Sounds Studios in New York, where they recorded their past releases.
"We did the last couple albums there," he said. "It's a great spot for us. It's not too far from where I live and it's where the band originated. It's like home away from home for us."
In addition to that, Petrucci also noted how the new Dream Theater album, "The Astonishing," is like a fresh start for them.
"A new album project is like a fresh and inspiring blank canvas and I love that every couple of years you have the opportunity of reinventing, trying something new and starting from scratch."
"But given the history of the band, you do have to take all of that into account and consider what we've done already, what we haven't explored yet and what will not only keep us interested and fired up, but will also keep people who listen to the band excited, as well."
