As a follow up to the highly acclaimed "Pure Heroine," Lorde revealed that she is back in the studio working on a new album, which is expected to hit shelves anytime next year.
The 19-year-old first revealed that she is back in the studio recording her upcoming record on her birthday, which was on Nov. 7.
New Zealand Herald reported how the "Royals" singer went on her Tumblr account to report the progress of her record.
"It's been a studio birthday so far you'll be happy to know," Lorde said, as she is now working on her new album.
Furthermore, a BBC interview revealed the singer's thoughts about her record and how she compares the previous release with the new one.
She noted how her new experiences gave her a new perspective that could actually affect her song writing process and potentially her sound.
"I wrote the last album about that world which was the suburb where I grew up and populated by my friends and people who were really familiar to me," Lorde said about her new album. "Now I'm in a different place every day and I'm with new people every day and it's a different vibe."
However, Lorde revealed that she hasn't really been thinking about how the new album would sound like.
"We haven't got some planned out 'this is what it's going to sound like,'" she added. "I think we're just going to start writing and when it starts to feel right, we'll know that it's right. It's pretty simple really."
"I don't know where the inspiration comes from for stuff. You work and at some point you feel you suck for the first 10 hours and in the last hour in the studio something great happens. You just never know when it's going to come."
