‘Gravity Falls’ Season 2 Finale Not Really The Final Destination? Dipper, Mabel Still To Be Seen?

While a lot of fans might have felt sad that "Gravity Falls" season 2 is finally heading to its finale, some could still be hoping that they would see a ray of light somehow. Are you one of those hopefuls?

In his Tumblr account, show creator Alex Hirsch announced that the Disney XD animated series is already moving to its ending which is going to be called "Weirdmageddon III."

"There's no easy way to say it so I'm just going to say it: Gravity Falls is coming to an end," the 30-year-old animator stated about the "Gravity Falls" season 2 finale.

"There are two more episodes left: 'Weirdmageddon II: Escape from Reality' and 'Weirdmageddon III' which will be our hour long series finale," he added. "After that, 'Gravity Falls' as we know it will be over."

Although he talked about the end of the second season, it can be noted in the FAQ portion of his post that he disclosed about still seeing twins Dipper and Mabel. However, there was never no mention of the platform or show that they will be headlining again.

Amid the "Gravity Falls" season 2 finale announcement, the American animator pointed out that "just because I've finished the story I wanted to tell doesn't necessarily mean we will never see Dipper, Mabel, & Stan again."

Does this mean that season 3 is actually on the works, or a reboot is coming our way?

"It means that this chapter is closed, and that I, at least for now, am personally done telling their story," he wrote.

In October, Hirsch gave Entertainment Weekly a vague response when asked about the possible crossover of "Gravity Falls" and "Rick & Morty."

"I remember when I was a kid, whenever you'd see cartoons cross over with each other, it always ranged from a delightful, magical surprise to a cynical, annoying cash grab," he said.

With this statement, do you think Dipper and Mabel would be seen in "Rick & Morty" after the "Gravity Falls" season 2 finale?
