The "Urobutcher" as he's sometimes affectionately called is coming back this year with a brand new project.
As fans of his work can probably guess, it looks like there will be blood.
A new project from 'Psycho-Pass" and "Puella Magic Madoka Magica" writer Gen Urobuchi was recently teased on a newly created Twitter account. The Twitter account revealed that at the 2016 Wonder Winter Festival, a stage event will occur that will reveal more information about his new project.
So far, fans in an ANN forum appear to be intrigued about Urobuchi's new project. In fact, one fan is particularly interested because of the voice actors that were announced for the event.
"Two names I'm familiar with and Gen Urobuchi? Hmmm, this could be interesting," said Chrno2.
The two names in question are Tomakazu Seki, who played the character of Kogami in "Psycho-Pass" and Mai Nakahara, who plays the character of Juvia in "Fairy Tail." According to Anime News Network, they will appear alongside Urobuchi, Nitroplus producer Digitarou, and Good Smile Company representative Takanori Aki at the stage event on Feb. 7.
As for what the project might be, the only hint is a teaser image in black, white, and red, of what looks to be a man wearing a strange mask and a necklace. Given Urobuchi's previous work with justice and testing his character's morals, perhaps the series will have something to do with those themes once again.
As a reminder, Urobuchi said in 2014, right around the release of "Aldnoah.Zero," he's always interested in destroying someone who's interested in justice.
"Sometimes when I see someone who's a spirit of justice... I feel like I want to destroy them! (laughs) But really, what I'm trying to do is make something compelling. Good and evil need to be on even ground, so that there is the real possibility that either could be the victor," said Urobuchi in an interview with ANN.
Here's hoping for more bloody goodness in February.
