Episodes 1-3
The very first thing you notice about "Please Tell Me! Galko-Chan" is the bright and extremely colorful art style. Ultimately, the color makes the tone of the series feel comical at the outset and adds almost a layer of comfort.
That is to say, when you watch "Please Tell Me! Galko-Chan," you can almost be certain to feel only positive emotions throughout.
The first two episodes of the series introduces the girls, Galko, Otako, and Ojou. It's pretty clear that Galko is extremely popular based on the vapid sensibilities of her classmates. They're focused mainly on her good looks and busty chest. But what makes her an endearing character is that she's genuine in her interest and niceness to those around her.
The first two episodes are focused on jokes and revealing the dynamic between Galko and Otako. At first, it appears that Otako shows her affection for Galko with her brand of perverted teasing. The teasing, though usually funny, ultimately leads to a serious moment in episode three where Otako makes a joke that goes a bit too far.
The great thing about the third episode of "Please Tell Me! Galko-Chan" is the moment where the lighthearted, colorful, and comforting artwork is able to keep the severity of this issue from going too dark. Rather, when Otako exposes that she knows she makes fun of Galko because she felt her status change as the friend of someone so pretty and popular, the scene is not too dark. Thus, the comedic reveal that Galko was just at home because she was sick works perfectly as a resolution.
Overall, the first three episodes of "Please Tell Me! Galko-Chan" are brief yet wonderful pockets of comedy and comfort. The series maintains a lighthearted tone while still providing avenues for conflict and character development. In combination with the beautiful art style, the series is a relaxing and feel-good venture that's good on its own and even better when you need a pick-me-up.
