Nintendo NX Specs To Have Latest AMD Chip?

The Nintendo NX specs may be using the latest technology from AMD for its console. It is also believed that the highly-anticipated console may be unveiled at E3 this year.

According to Wii U Daily, AMD's quarterly call has hinted at several new consoles which will be launched this year. It was claimed that the Nintendo NX specs could be powered by the latest AMD chip.

"In our EESC segment, we had record shipments of our semi-custom SoCs powering the Playstation 4 and Xbox One game consoles," a post on Reddit read.

"Demand for game consoles looks strong for 2016 and we remain on track to generate additional revenue from new semi-custom business in the second half of 2016."

"Game consoles - we see units going up 2016 to 2015. We've also said in the enterprise embedded and semi-custom segment that we will be ramping some new design revenue in the second half of 2016. We have new products being introduced in both the businesses with the new design wins in the second half on the semi-custom side."

Other than the Nintendo NX specs rumors, there are speculations that Sony may possibly release a new version of the PlayStation 4 this year. It is currently dubbed as the PlayStation 4K and may also be revealed at E3 2016.

Nintendo Insider reported that the Nintendo NX specs could be built on x86 architecture. If this is true, players can soon save and back up data to the company's servers. It could also have support for an additional screen.

It was noted that the console may be able to handle ports of current-gen games. It may also be able to interact with smart device apps and allow players to unlock My Nintendo reward points.

"This user has been verified by the mod team," NintendoNX subreddit moderator FlapSnapple revealed.

"We have confirmed that he has connections to Wii U developer(s) and/or development hardware and very likely has knowledge about the NX via those same connections."
