Apple is the name in mind when you are looking for the newest features, however it seems that the 3D touch feature on the iPhone 6s will stay there because the iPad Air 3 might not have that feature.
As reported by Silicon India, Apple will be unveiling the iPad Air 3 at the rumored March 2016 event, where the new 4-inch iPhone and the second generation Apple Watch will be announced as well.
The Motley Fool reported that Ming-Chi Kuo, a KGI Securities Analyst, has unveiled a current research note on the next-generation iPad Air 3, and he said that the 3D touch feature is not expected to make it to the tablets made by Apple.
According to Kuo, the 3D touch supply chain is only at 30% of its peak capacity utilization. He did not mention any technical challenges, but there should be some issues Apple is facing for incorporating the 3D touch on a dramatically bigger display.
Reportedly, Apples iPad line has hit some bumps in the road this past couple of years but it could not be entirely because of Apple. The tablet market is still trying to figure out the correct timeline for upgrades. Accordingly, it will be around between the five-to-seven-year Mac upgrades or the two-year iPhone upgrades.
Even though the upcoming iPad Air 3 will not have the 3D touch, Apple still need to keep on innovating and adding new features to show their target audience that there is indeed a reason to upgrade.
According to Master Herald, Apple reportedly stated that they have decided not to release the iPad Air 3 because it offered only minimal upgrades compared to the iPad Air 2.
Without the 3D touch feature, iPad fans are now thinking twice whether the upcoming iPad Air 3 will have enough features to push a significant upgrade on Apple's tablet line.
