"Bourne 5" is definitely coming next year and in a recent interview with Variety, lead actor Matt Damon who plays Jason Bourne dished details about the much anticipated sequel.
In the interview with Variety, Matt Damon revealed that he and director Paul Greengrass intended to wait for a longer time before making another "Bourne" movie and emphasized that he never gave up on "Bourne." His hiatus made way for Jeremy Renner, which according to Screen Rant, failed to generate a response from the fans the same way they had to the previous "Bourne" films.
"I really liked the franchise and the character but I didn't see a way to go," Matt Damon told Variety. "But I wasn't giving up on the idea of doing it. Paul and I kind of talked years ago about perhaps the way forward was just to let time pass and allow the world to change a little."
Damon also talked about what happens to his character Jason Bourne in "Bourne 5," saying, "The third act actually in the movie dovetails with the third act of 'The Bourne Supremacy.' So technically when the Bourne character disappears, it's still 2004. So when this next one comes out in '16, it will have been 12 years-in movie years-that the characters as been off the grid. So what's happened in those intervening years gives you a story."
Damon also revealed that the film is already "halfway through," which started on September but have gone dark for most of December and having only left the third act with polishing for the first two acts.
The actor further opened up about the locations for "Bourne 5" and teased about an exciting action sequence that fans have to watch out.
"We were in Tenerife, which is supposed to be Athens. It would be like a night time riot scene to kind of start the movie. And then England, Berlin a little for about a week, and a little bit in D.C. Then we're going to Vegas for the third act... big car chase on the strip," he said.
