In home's televisions, one can see most South Korean soap operas, radios and MTV's are dominated by K-Pops. Even the way young people dress, comb and style their hair South Korean influence can be found. It seems Indonesia is conquered by South Korea through music, fashion and drama.
Just recently, a K-Pop competition is held in a Central Jakarta shopping mall many Indonesians who fell in love with Korean style join while others enjoyed watching.
A certain Arthur Perdana, 20 and one of the performers wore South Korea all over his body, from a bowl-style haircut with a light orange shade and green contact lenses. He told ABC News before taking the stage that he loved well the culture of South Korea and he showed much interest about South Korean language.
"I just like to learn about their culture, I will take what is good and leave out what is bad." This is how Arthur showed interest in South Korea. Interestingly, his South Korean fondness does not just end in music, fashion, drama, culture and language but also in foods. "First of all I like the music and then I love the drama also and the K-pop stars and everything actually. And the food I also like."
The most significant statistics that show the Indonesian Korea-love is the fact that 220,000 Indonesians as based on record travelled to South Korea as tourists. Well it is still increasing.
As far as South Korean television drama is concerned, Irma Maulida, an Indonesian woman from the Korean Tourism organization said, "Indonesians have all fallen in love with Korean television drama". Compared to Indonesian drama, Irma added, "Korean drama has very good packaging and then there's the music, and the Koreans always looks so cute".
One example of a Korean television series that is well loved by people in Indonesia is the Descendants of the Sun.
