The nation’s idol is back. The first generation Korean idol g.o.d. which is an acronym of "groove over dose" will perform a concert in January 2017 in Korea.
The idol group whose nickname is the nation’s idol g.o.d.will be back in January next year to perform a series of concert as reported by Yonhap News Agency. The nationwide concert will is titled "2017 god to MEN Concert" and will start on Jan. 6
Park Joon-Hyung, Yoon Kye-Sang, Danny Ahn, Son Ho-Young and Kim Tae-Woo will perform their hits which has spanned almost 30 years since the group debuted in 1998. The concert will kick off at Jamsil Arena in Seoul from Jan. 6-8 and around the country. The concert organizer SJ Entertainment announced on Friday Nov. 4 that after Seoul, the group will also perform in Incheon, Daegu, Ilsan, Gwangju, Busan and other cities.
“Fans can look forward to the five members dressed up in elegant tuxedos,” the agency said in an official statement as quoted by Korea Herald.
Most of idol groups in Korea idolized g.o.d. for their solid and great friendship among the members since the group was formed in 1998. Although their debut was not a successful one with the song “To Mother” in 1999. but their tenacity and friendship kept them together. Eventually, they made it to the top with second single “Love and Remember,” written specially by their good friend Park Jin-Young, the founder and CEO of JYP Entertainment.
The band solid friendship keeps intact even when Ho-Young decided to leave the group in 2005 for solo career, and the group went on a long hiatus. When Ho-Young attempted to commit suicide in 2013, all members took turn to visit him in the hospital until he fully recovered. Eventually, Ho-Young returned to g.o.d, and they were back as five-member group again in 2014.
They performed a nationwide concert in 2014 and also in two U.S. cities of Los Angeles and New Jersey. The concert in LA was performed in Staples Center on Nov. 7 and Prudential Center New Jersey on Nov. 9.
