SISTAR definitely wants a unique way to comeback as they bring fans their latest song entitled "One More Day."
"One More Day" is a collaboration with Giorgio Moroder, a well-known DJ of electronic and disco music. The song's music video was released on November 21 in South Korea and caught fans and critics shocked.
The MV is actually the first comeback song of SISTAR that didn't actually include the girls in the MV. Instead, it stars Korean actress Hong Soo Hyun from "Princess Man" and Korean model Song Haena who both played very controversial roles. It's none other than playing as lesbians.
The plot is all about an unlikely love triangle among the two girls and Haena's boyfriend. As how Koreaboo wrote it, the story develops into a very crucial one as Haena's boyfriend became abusive. He was seen hitting him every now and then even if when Haena is with Soo Hyun. As if the gender and sexuality issues on the MV are not enough, the MV also ended with an explosive finale as the two girls both agreed to murder Haena's boyfriend. The MV ended with Haena and Soo Hyun dragging a large luggage which was speculated to contain the boyfriend's body and then lit it on fire inside a car near the iconic Han River.
The song is very timely since just days ago, it was the "National Coming Out Day" where several K-Pop artists like Girls' Generation's Taeyeon, 2AM's Jokwon, and 2NE1's CL expressed their support for the LGBTQ community.
As the controversial MV became trending, some even criticized that the song's MV resembles T.A.T.U "All about Us" music video because of the theme and the plot, according to Officially K-Music. Others can't help but praise the girls and their label, Starship Entertainment, for using their music to raise awareness and support towards the LGBTQ community. It can be recalled that labelmate K.Will once released an MV for "Please Don't" which featured SISTAR'S Dasom tangled in the gay relationship of actors Ahn Jae Hyun and Seo In Guk. Other songs from the same agency's artists such as SISTAR's previous hit "I Like That" and even MONSTA X's "All In" provided some hints about LGBTQ issues.
It's good that the music most fans are getting hooked on are becoming platforms for advocacies and awareness. Way to go SISTAR! Watch the MV for "One More Day" below.
