TWICE member Jeongyeon will end their contract as host of the SBS music show “Inkigayo” with her two partner actor Kim Min-Seok and young actress Gong Seung-Yeun. SBS is reported to search for another hosts. Actress Park Si-Eun is rumored to be one of new hosts of one of the most popular music show in Korea.
Jeongyeon with her older sister Gong and Kim will end their contract with Inkigayo after Jan. 22 according to SBS as reported by Korea Daily. They have been the host for one of the most popular music show since July 2016.
The interaction between the two sisters Jeongyeon and Gong have been a delight for the viewers of Inkigayo. Therefore their departure will be missed dearly by the viewers. Especially the three of them have been able to build a good teamwork for almost a year.
SBS is currently seeking for the replacement of the three of them. There are some speculations that young actress Park Si-Eun will become the new host as reported by News1. She has the same name as the other actress, who is 21 years older and played the evil Lady Hae in drama “Moon Lover: Scarlet Heart Ryeo.”
Park has just signed the contract to join JYP Entertainment on Jan. 8 and she is reported to stay focus on her acting career. However, last year she host the special edition of “Inkigayo” with VIXX member Hong-Bin and their performance has garnered a praise from viewers. Park and Hong-Bin hosted the special edition of Inkigayo on April 24, 2016.
“Inkigayo” is the long running music program in SBS. Initially the program began as music chart show in 1991 until 1993 before SBS stopped airing the program.
In 1998, the program rebooted with new format that remain until now. “Inkigayo” has been dubbed as the most prestigious music program in Korean television due to its longetivity for almost 20 years.
