Sungmin of Super Junior and musical actor Jung Hwi were accordingly invited recently as guests in the SBS Power FM's "Park Sun Young's Cinetown." The two currently play the same role in "Boys Over Flowers The Musical." When DJ Park Sun Young congratulated Sungmin on his recent discharge from the army, the actor shyly replied that he has already returned to a normal life as a civilian.
The DJ asked, according to Allkpop, if Sungmin did wish he was in a normal life while in the army. He answered that he dreamed of being in the army before he enlisted. He accordingly did enjoy his stint in the army more than he imagined. "How about enlisting one more time," his fellow guest Jung Hwi joked. Sungmin challenged him to enlist if he wants to be beaten up first thing in the morning.
Lee Sungmin enlisted for his mandatory military service in March 2015. He was officially discharged from his military duty in December 2016, after serving 21 months of active duty. The 30-year-old Super Junior member, according to Soompi, was relieved of his mandatory military service from the 17th Division at Bupyeong District in Incheon.
His wife Kim Sa Eun expressed her happiness for him being able to return home safely. "Congratulations," was the caption to a photo of a bouquet she accordingly posted in her Instagram.
Sungmin was born in the Ilsan district of Goyang, Gyeonggi. Accordingly, Sungmin's father Lee Chun-hwa, is a Chief Executive Officer of two companies SendBill and Network Mania. In 2001 Sungmin entered the SM Youth Best Contest and won first place for the Best Outward Appearance award, together with future bandmate Donghae. In September 2014, Sungmin confirmed that he was dating actress Kim Sa-eun. They got married in December 2014 in a private wedding.
