Fans of OCN's "Bad Guys" who have been patiently waiting for its sequel may be disappointed to learn that the second season being produced by OCN not a sequel, but a spinoff. This means that motley crew of Mad Dog's convicts turned police investigators will be no more and instead, a new team will be formed with a slightly different concept.
It was earlier reported by Kpopstarz that OCN was getting ready to shoot with the original team - writer Han Jung Hoon, PD Han Dong Hwa, as well as original cast members Kim Sang Joong, Park Hae Jin, Ma Dong Seok, Jo Dong Hyuk and Kang Ye Won to pick up the story from where the original series left off. It can be recalled that the idea of a sequel was teased at the ending when Mad Dog Oh Gu Tak (Kim Sang Joong) was seen as he was being released from prison to consult on a complicated case being handled by the police. "Train to Busan" star Ma Dong Seok, who played underground thug Park Un Cheol in "Bad Guys" Season 1 also teased a return during the BTS clip where he said they wanted to come back for Season 2.
However, it seems that with the tight schedule for production, OCN may be having difficulty reconciling the schedules of Kim Sang Joong, Park Hae Jin, Ma Dong Seok, Jo Dong Hyuk and Kang Ye Won to appear in "Bad Guys" Season 2. It can be recalled that since the airing of "Bad Guys", its lead stars have appeared in successful franchises like "Train to Busan", "Cheese in the Trap" and "Man to Man," along with other projects lined up for release in 2017.
According to a report by Drama Beans, "Bad Guys" Park Hae Jin's "Man to Man" co-star Park Sung Woong is being offered the lead role in the spinoff "Bad Guys: Age of Evil." The show will revolve around a new team who works against a "decaying society that has lost its sense of justice." The "Bad Guys" spinoff is still set for a September release following the completion of "Tunnel", "Duel" and 2PM Taecyeon's latest thriller "Save Me."
