BoA has not stopped shining since she debuted.
BoA is one of the beginnings of SM Entertainment's success, alongside boy group H.O.T (High-five Of Teenagers). She joined the company when she was eleven years old and trained for two years. Then at the age of thirteen, she debuted with the album "ID; Peace B" on August 25, 2000.
In his goal to penetrate a larger foreign market, Lee Soo Man, SME's founder, included foreign language and culture education to his star academy system. Thus, making BoA study Japanese, and was even sent to Japan for a long time to achieve fluency. With all her learning and training, BoA became SM's first international superstar.
In 2002, the songstress released her first Japanese album called "Listen to My Heart." It sold one million copies and debuted at number one on the Oricon chart. BoA is the first non-Japanese Asian singer to achieve more than 1 million album sales and became more prominent in Japan than in Korea. In fact, she hosted a radio program called "Beat it BoA's World" on the Japan FM Network from 2001 to 2007.
BoA continued to release more Korean and Japanese albums, and all of them became a hit, grabbing the top spot on major music charts and selling thousands and millions of copies.
On top of that, BoA became a shareholder of SM Entertainment since 2005 after contributing to the company approximately worth 1 million US dollars.
In addition to Korea and Japan, BoA also made her American debut on October 21, 2008, with the single "Eat You Up." It took the number 9 spot on Billboard's Hot Dance Club Play chart. Not to mention, she also became famous and made her Hollywood movie debut by playing the role of Aya in the dance film titled "Make Your Move 3D" in 2011.
But BoA is more than a singer and shareholder. She co-produced the song "G.A.B" in 2013, and wrote and produced her eighth Korean album "Kiss My Lips." Also, she became one of the producers of Mnet's survival reality show "Produce 101 Season 2" in 2016.
