On October 13th, Tuesday, the girls of BLACKPINK attended the press conference for their upcoming Netflix documentary, "BLACKPINK: Light Up The Sky", set to premiere on the platform on October 14, Wednesday. During the press conference, Jennie revealed what she would want to tell her past trainee self.
During the interview portion, Jennie was asked, "What do you want to tell yourself if you could go back to your trainee days?" With a laugh, Jennie replied, "I want to tell myself to enjoy my time as a trainee."
She revealed that she was not able to fully enjoy her time as a trainee because of the pressure she felt to do well. "At that time, I was always so pressured to do a good job during my end-of-the-month evaluations, so I didn't stop to enjoy it. But thanks to those times, we are doing so well now, and that is how we became the BLACKPINK we are today."
During the press conference, Jennie also acknowledged that the group had to overcome all sorts of hurdles to achieve the level of success they have today. Jennie explained how the members keep each other motivated even when things get tough.
"As we race towards our goals," Jennie starts. "We were able to keep each other motivated so that none of us would feel discouraged. Although we all have different styles and feel things differently, I think we learned to manage them, adjust, and communicate with each other well."
Fans will be able to see more of their trainee days and how they prepared for their debuts and comebacks on their Netflix documentary.
On September 9, 2020, Netflix announced the release of the BLACKPINK documentary, "BLACKPINK: Light Up the Sky", on their social media accounts. YG Entertainment told numerous media outlets that the upcoming all-access documentary will show never before seen footage of the girls as trainees and the past four years of the group's career, from debut preparations in 2016 until now.
The documentary will show how the group trained to become BLACKPINK, their lives at home, as well as honest interviews with the members, in which they tell never-before-heard stories and their feelings on their rise to fame. The documentary will also show the group's recording process and their rise to international success. Additionally, the documentary will also show how the group prepared for their iconic 2019 Coachella performance and the behind-the-scenes of the whole set.
On October 6, Netflix dropped the exclusive trailer for the documentary. The trailer shows the girls as they tour and perform, sneak peeks of their trainee days, their home life, and clips showing off the girls' close, sisterly bond.

The Netflix Film Club has also released a video of the girls' of BLACKPINK reacting to the trailer. During the video, they spoke about wanting to tour again and being nervous about people's reactions to the documentary. The girls have said that the documentary shows their natural state, which is different from the dream they usually portray on stage. Still, they revealed they are excited to know what people think of them.
