On Monday, Dec. 28, Billboard released the results of their poll published earlier this month (December), in which fans could select their favorite album of 2020. The boys were up against powerhouses in the music industry, such as Taylor Swift for "Folklore," Lady Gaga for "Chromatica," The Weeknd for "After Hours," and K-pop's very own BLACKPINK for "THE ALBUM."
However, ARMYs proved once again that they are a force to be reckoned with, taking up the spot on the poll for "Map of the Soul: 7," the boy band's fourth Korean-language album and seventh overall album. BTS took the spot with 30.66% of all the total votes.
"Map of the Soul: 7" was released on Feb. 2020 and debuted at the top of the Billboard 200 chart, making it BTS's fourth consecutive chart-topper in the United States. "Map of the Soul: 7" outsold the next six highest-ranking albums on the Billboard 200 combined. The album also peaked at number one on the US Independent Albums chart, US World Albums chart, and Canadian Albums. For Billboard Japan, it peaked at number 10 on the Japan Hot Albums chart.
The album's two lead singles, "Black Swan" and "ON" both charted in the Billboard Hot 100 chart, peaking at number 57 and number 4, respectively. The album was included in Billboard's "50 Best Albums of 2020 (So Far)" list.

Second place went to Taylor Swift for "Folklore", taking 29.29% of the votes. Third place went to Dua Lipa for "Future Nostalgia," taking up 6.49% of the votes. BLACKPINK also made the top 10 for "THE ALBUM," sitting at number seven.
2020 has been quite the year for BTS. Following the release of their universally successful album, "Map of the Soul: 7," they were set to embark on a world tour. However, it was postponed indefinitely due to the coronavirus pandemic. The boys focused more on music since then.
In August, BTS released their first all-English single, "Dynamite." The song debuted at number one n the US Billboard Hot 00 chart, making it BTS's first chart-topper in the United States and the first all-Soth Koren act to have a number one single in the country. It remained at the top spot for a second week, dropped to number two in the third and fourth week, and rose back to number one by the fifth week.
By the fifth week, "Dynamite" topped the Billboard Global 200 and Global Excluding US Chart, becoming the first single to top both charts simultaneously.

In October, BTS released a remix of Jason Derulo and Jawsh 685's song "Savage Love (Laxed - Siren Beat)". Their version topped the Billboard Hot 100, making it BTS's second number-one single in the United States. At the time, "Dynamite" sat at number two, making BTS the fourth group to hold the top two spots at the same time. The song also topped the Billboard Global 200.
In November, they released their fifth Korean-language studio album, "Be" with the lead single "Life Goes On". The song debuted at number one on the Billboard Hot 100, making it the first song sang primarily in Korean to debut at the top of the chart. This was their third consecutive number one in just three months.
