In response, Eli said:
"I'm sorry I didn't go to court. I apologize for my parents. Just leave what you've been through as an experience and don't get hurt in the future."
The former wife then complained about how his mother "bullied" her, and opened up about the male star's decision to go to America. He left her and his son in Korea.
Eli then explained:
"I told you to stay in Korea because I'll make money in America. That's why you got divorced."
Ji then defended her side, saying:
"Of course. It's not a family then."
Revealing his side for the first time, the idol who initially rose into popularity as U-Kiss narrated that going to the U.S. is his only option to take care of his family.
"I tried to think of 'yeobo' (honey) first in any decision. But this issue of going to America was the last decision I could make. It was a decision to make you comfortable."
He then continued that it was difficult for him even if he is an idol.
"I couldn't say no to people while I was an idol. If you say no, there's no work next time. You should drink with investors, and if you need them, you should keep chasing them and show them your face."
Thus, he decided to go to America and leave the K-pop scene:
"It was a tough decision for me to enter the U.S. But I didn't want to live like that here anymore."
He concluded:
"Japan is my main source of income. I performed 35 times a year and earned 15 million won in a year. Singers are freelancers, so money doesn't come in steadily, and they can only make money when they have work. I'm so embarrassed and tired of begging for work, and I didn't want to do that anymore."
