BTS Becomes Group With Most Billboard Music Award Wins After Earning 3 New Trophies

On May 15 local time, the 2022 Billboard Music Awards winners were revealed, and BTS was one of them. The septet particularly took home three out of the six awards for which they were nominated.

At this year's award ceremony, BTS received the Top Duo/Group, Top Song Sales Artist, and Top Selling Song (with their mega-hit song "Butter"). This is the group's second year in a row to win all three awards. This also marks their fourth time to take home the Top Duo/Group at the Billboard Music Awards (they previously won the award in 2019 and 2021).

BTS has been winning a trophy at every single Billboard Music Awards held since 2017. They now boast a total of 12 BBMA wins, becoming the new group with the most trophies at the said award ceremony in history.

The "Butter" singers have broken the record of 11 wins set by Destiny's Child, which has been unbeaten for 17 years.

Meanwhile, BTS was unable to take home Top Global 200 (Excl. U.S.) Artist, Top Global 200 (Excl. U.S.) Song (with "Butter"), Top Rock Song (with "My Universe"), and the other Top Selling Song (with "Permission to Dance").

Regarding BTS' trophies at the Billboard Music Awards, they currently have five Top Social Artist awards, three Top Duo Group awards, two Top Selling Song awards, and two Top Song Sales Artist awards.

BTS' '7 Fates: CHAKHO' OST 'Stay Alive' Hits 100 Million Streams on Spotify

In other news, the song "Stay Alive" which is the original soundtrack for BTS' webtoon "7 Fates: CHAKHO" reached 100 million streams on Spotify at approximately midnight KST on May 12.

"Stay Alive," which Jungkook sang, came out on Feb. 11, meaning it took the song only 89 days to accumulate 100 million streams on the world's largest music streaming platform.

With this, BTS Jungkook's "Stay Alive" is now the fastest Korean OST and fastest song by a K-pop male soloist to hit the 100-million mark.

On the list of OSTs, "Stay Alive" surpassed BTS' "Film Out," which took 108 days to gain 100 million streams on Spotify. Impressively, the "7 Fates: CHAKHO" OST now holds the shortest record to reach 10 million streams to 100 million streams on Spotify in history among songs by K-pop male soloists.

In celebration of BTS Jungkook's new historic achievement, ARMYs took to Twitter to trend several hashtags including "#StayAlive100M," "#JungkookHistoryMaker," as well as the phrases "100 MILLION FOR JK" and "Congratulations Jungkook." These keywords all trended in the music category around the world with more than 50,000 tweets each.

To recall, BTS Jungkook's "Stay Alive" is also the fastest solo song in history to reach 100 to 109 No. 1s on iTunes Song charts, and the first Korean solo song to rank first on the Worldwide iTunes Song Chart for five days in a row. It is also the song by an Asian soloist with the biggest first-day streams on Spotify in history, and the song by a Korean artist with the biggest first-week streams in 2022.

These are just some of the remarkable achievements that BTS Jungkook's "Stay Alive" has attained this year. It is expected to obtain more feats as time goes by.
