Former AOA Member Jimin Talks About Going Out of Retirement to Appear on Broadcast
Recently, former AOA member and leader Jimin appeared on the September 20 broadcast of the JTBC entertainment program The Second World.
In this episode, it featured performances by the artists after they formed a team consisting of two members. In particular, Jimin partnered up with former Wonder Girls member Yubin for their unit stage.
While the two were preparing for their performance, Jimin and Yubin went out for a meal together and had a casual chat. While they were eating, Yubin mentioned Jimin's having retired from the entertainment industry, and eventually coming out of retirement to join the show.
"I think you had made a big decision to appear on this program. Didn't you say that you wouldn't work in the entertainment industry again?" Yubin asked Jimin.
Back in July 2020, Jimin announced her departure from AOA after member Mina accused the idol of being a perpetrator of bullying for more than ten years, which led to Mina withdrawing from the group back in May 2019. In the same month, Jimin retired from the entertainment industry and was out of the public eye for over two years.
Regarding her decision to come out of retirement, Jimin said, "I kept thinking to myself. Should I really do this or not?"

She then expressed her worries when she does choose to once again work in the entertainment industry, as she is aware that many might be opposed to it, given that she was at the center of a bullying scandal.
"I wondered if I can handle this. I will be able to hear good things, but I think that I will hear a lot of bad things too," Jimin said.
She added, "I was also afraid of getting hurt a little. I thought a lot about this and decided, so I don't think I will regret [the decision]."
Yubin Hopes for Jimin to Win in 'The Second World'
Hearing this, Yubin praised Jimin for her performances on the show so far. She said, "I think you did a really great job in The Second World."
To this, Jimin responds saying, "Didn't you say that to me on the first day of recording [the show] too? Those words were very comforting."
Yubin added that she can see that Jimin really loves music so much, and that it was a great decision on her part to appear on the show.
